ABOUT LIFE BLOOM SERVICES INTERNATIONAL (LBSI)
Life Bloom Services International (LBSI) is strength- based transformational program utilizing peer mentoring and healing relationships to invite women and girls into movement from victim to whole life health. LBSI is Non- profit Organization registered with the NGOCo-ordination Bureau in Kenya on Sept 23rd 2004.
LBSI journeys with the women, girls and children who have experienced abuse and exploitation in the sex work industry. Most of them, both under age and adults are trafficked to and through Naivasha/ Nairobi as domestic workers, casual workers in the flower farms, hotel industry and often ending up in sexual exploitation and sex work. LBSI program benefits women and girls moving back and forth along the corridor, receiving some from across the borders and from the coast.
Since 2004, LBSI has been working from the streets, bars, lodges and brothels where majority of them trapped. Using the Peer Mentor Model, LBSI follows the women to their homes and families to support them in their transition towards leading positively product and dignified lives.
In the counter human trafficking project, LBSI in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM) in 2009 trained 30 persons on issues related to human trafficking and the identification of trafficked persons, how and where to refer them. The persons trained were LBSI staff and mentors, media, LBSI stakeholders and partners. As a result, LBSI through the Peer Mentor Model has been able to reach and empower sex workers and other community women to respond to the same. LBSI has built the capacity of 457 former sex workers at the community level with basic counter human trafficking skills (identification, reporting and basic referrals). This has been done through the Peer Mentors. Our geographical coverage includes Nairobi and Nakuru counties.
